BIS SIGNS MOU WITH UAE
Bureau of Indian Standard (BIS), the national standard body of India has signed Memorandum of Understanding(MoU) for technical cooperation between BIS and Emirates Authority for Standardization and Metrology (ESMA), Abu Dhabi.
The MOU was signed on 26 March 2007 at New Delhi by Mrs. Alka Sirohi, Director General, BIS on behalf of BIS and Mr Waleed Ali Bin Falah Al Mansouri, Director General, ESMA on behalf of ESMA. The MoU was signed in presence of Dr. Manmohan Singh , Hon’ble Prime Minister of India and H.H.Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Hon’ble Vice President and Prime Minister of United Arab Emirates & Ruler of Dubai.
The MoU aims at technical cooperation between the two national national standards bodies in the field of standardization, certification, testing, technical information, training and technical personnel. The MoU is expected to facilitate closer cooperation and provide a mechanism for the parties to work together towards mutual benefit in the field of standardization, conformity assessment and training and to facilitate sharing of expertise and increase in mutual trade .It also envisages close contact between the organizations at regional and international for a in order to promote consolidation of their positions and increase of role of both the organizations in the international activities.
The implementation of the MoU will also strengthen and facilitate the operation of certification scheme of organizations.
