INTRODUCTION
Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) instituted Rajiv Gandhi National Quality Award in 1991 with a view to recognizing and encouraging Indian manufacturing and service sector organizations to strive for excellence and giving special recognition to those who are considered to be the leaders of quality movement in India. This award is intended to generate interest and involvement of Indian industry in quality programmes, drive our products and services to higher levels of quality and equip our industry to meet the challenges of domestic and international markets.
There is a general feeling in Indian Industry that with our present work culture, it is difficult to consistently achieve desired quality in our products and services. However, inspite of the adverse business environmental factors, award winners of Rajiv Gandhi National Quality Award have shown that they could become world class organizations and could play important role in global markets.
For making rapid strides in our economic growth, we need to have large number of organizations of such calibre and capability. For this purpose, Bureau of Indian Standards is organising one day seminar on "Achieving Excellence in Quality - Experience Sharing with winners of Rajiv Gandhi National Quality Award". Award winners will share their quality strategy and rich experience, which has led them to achieve excellence in quality and win this prestigious award.
The advertisement for inviting applications for Rajiv Gandhi National Quality Awards for year 2005 has already been released in leading news papers all over the country in first week of April 2005. The last date for receipt of completed application form is 2 June 2005.
The seminar will also be useful to prospective applicants as it will provide desired information to be included in various questions of the application form.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND
The organizations who want to compete for Rajiv Gandhi National Quality Award or interested in sharing their experience with award winners will greatly benefit from this seminar. It is hoped that this seminar will not only help the organizations to assess their strengths and weaknesses, but also may find solutions to improve them.

The seminar will be addressed by award winners of Rajiv Gandhi National Quality Award and BIS officers.

PARTICIPATION FEE
Participation fee for the seminar is Rs 2500/- (Rupees two thousand five hundred only), which includes cost of reference material, lunch/tea/coffee etc. The programme is on non-residential basis. Participation fee shall be paid by Demand Draft in favour of `Bureau of Indian Standards' payable at New Delhi.
